This morning I found comfort in a poem by Chelan Harkin:
It’s when the earth shakesAnd foundations crumbleThat our light is calledTo rise up.It’s when everything falls awayAnd shakes us to the coreAnd awakens allOf our hidden ghostsThat we dig deeper to findOnce inaccessible strength.It’s in times when division is fierceThat we must reach for each otherAnd hold each other muchMuch tighter.Do not fall away now.This is the time to rise.Your light is being summoned.Your integrity is being testedThat it may stand more tall.When everything collapsesWe must find within usThat which is indomitable.Rise, and find the strength in your heart.Rise, and find the strength in each otherBurn through your devastation,Make it your fuel.Bring forth your light.Now is not the timeTo be afraid of the dark.

I am grateful for the community that we have and the people around us working  to restore a world worthy of our children.
I am going to lean into gratitude and hope the best that I can, to tend to my flame and share my light.  Where we have strength is in creating a space for our children, our friends, our teachers, ourselves – for those we love to feel seen and safe.  
This past Sunday our children learned about Diwali – a Festival of Light – the message that the light will overcome the darkness.  A message I think we could all use right now.  
Remember to tend to your flame,

The Nursery will be open with a space for our youngest little ones to play safely while being supervised by Sunny and Leah.  This is also a place for those with babes-in-arms to rest, change diapers or have another set of hands help out.  
Our monthly Committee on Family Ministry will meet in person after the service November 17th.

الأنشطة والفعاليات القادمة* November 17 – Committee on Family Ministry Lunch!  Bring your ideas and hopes for Religious Exploration (RE) as we share a lunch and plan for future RE programming and activities.  
Parents – Did you know RE Staff are at the building starting at 10:15am?  Plan to arrive before service starts and your children can settle in and play before the service while their adults enjoy coffee and conversation.  After the service, children who are not picked up by 1:55 will walk with staff to be reconnected with their families.  If your family will be out of town, email Shannon dre@uucmp.org لإعلامنا حتى نتمكن من التخطيط للحضور.
? Would your child like to light the chalice?Our Chalice Lighter this Sunday will be Nora!  The Chalice Lighting sign up sheet will be at the RE table with our coloring and quiet activity supplies.  Please be sure to sign your child up if they are interested.
Every Sunday we try to find a child or youth volunteer to light the chalice. It’s a fun way for kids to participate in the service. DRE Shannon can show kids how to do it before the service if it’s their first time or they need a reminder. See Shannon on Sunday morning if interested.   Sign Up at the RE Table!
