オーロネ/コスタノアン・エッセレン国家 (OCEN) は、歴史的に文書化されており、以前に認識されていた部族です。 OCEN は、エッセレン、カルメレーノ、モントレー バンド、ラムセン、シャロン、ソレダッド ミッション、サン カルロス ミッション、コスタノアン ミッションのインド系 600 名以上の登録メンバーを代表する法定部族政府の代理人です。

宣教、政府の交代、条約の破棄、文化の荒廃、祖国の喪失にもかかわらず、私たちは生き残ってきました。私たちは言語を目覚めさせ、子供たちや孫たちに彼らの文化を教えています。この地域には他の先住民族も住んでいたかもしれませんが、この地域は私たちの先住民族の故郷です。

Today all of our Tribal members have genealogy proven links to our thirteen core families. We work with a Tribal Government, Tribal Constitution and Bylaws. We have a Non-Profit organization, #770378095 whose sole purpose is to support the OCEN people.
