We support Dorothy’s Place, serving the homeless in Salinas, in several ways. We collected over $1000 on a Justice Sunday for their housing program, and each month we donate items from a list of their needs. We also support Interim, Inc., the largest provider in Monterey County of transitional and permanent supportive housing for adults with mental illness who would otherwise be homeless. We have held multigenerational Saturday service and learning projects for Dorothy’s Place and Interim, Inc. We are participants in the Friends of Homeless Women. We also support Outreach Unlimited and the I-HELP program in many ways, including housing and serving dinner to homeless men each month.
Beloved Community and Restorative Justice
This work brings together anti-racism and multiculturalism. We join the NAACP and the Village Project, Inc. in preventive work with minority youth and support for individuals returning to the community from incarceration. We also support comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship in conjunction with the UU program, “Standing on the Side of Love.”
