Organizing Hope: COPA’s Candidate Accountability Assembly

Monday, October 24 from 6:30 – 8 pm. To attend this important Zoom meeting: Register here: bit.ly/COPA-October24

In recent years, every time COPA has gone before the Board of Supervisors – to create and expand Esperanza Care, to secure the initial funding and then to extend the Project VIDA Community Health Worker program – COPA has received unanimous votes.  This is because of the work we have done in all 5 Supervisor districts, building up an organized constituency and developing relationships of accountability with officials.  Elected officials understand the value of working with COPA and supporting our agenda, and this understanding is often developed through larger COPA assemblies where we forge these relationships.

Monterey County Supervisor candidates for District 2, Glenn Church and Regina Gage will attend. In addition, Santa Cruz County Supervisor candidates Justin Cummings and Shebreh Kalantari-Johnson from Santa Cruz County District 3, and candidate Felipe Hernandez from District 4, have agreed to participate in the Candidate Accountability Assembly in the run-up to the Tuesday, November 8 election.

Whether or not your district has a candidate for this election cycle, please join to see COPA in action. You will observe the power of witness through our stories. You will get to know the candidates and how they think. And by your presence, you will show our elected officials that, as people of faith, we expect their actions to align with our values of dignifying all human life, especially as it pertains to our proposals for affordable housing, rental assistance, and mental health care.
