RE Weekly News 9/18

September 18, 2024

Dear UUCMP Families,

This weekend there are two social activities planned and you are invited to join in the fun!  Nora and Anika’s parents are hosting a Fall Equinox bonfire at Asilomar State Beach Saturday night from 6-8pm.  Sunday, after the church service, folks are invited to meet up at Gizdich Ranch to go apple picking. They have a wonderful picnic lunch available and Jamie’s moms are planning to serve up Gizdich’s famous pie in honor of Jamie’s Birthday!

Sunday Morning – Teens and Tweens will continue their discussion about Unitarian Universalists.  Rebecca and Case will have a game and snacks – and teens will have an opportunity to interview one of our ministers! Elaine will join the group to share about her background in UUism 🙂

Our Elementary students have a delicious lesson planned with Daisy and Rachael.  ** Description still coming **

The Nursery will be open with a space for our youngest little ones to play safely while being supervised by Sunny and Leah.  This is also a place for those with babes-in-arms to rest, change diapers or have another set of hands help out.

Breastfeeding can be done in any space a parent is comfortable but a private nursing space is available if needed – please check in with Director of Religious Explorations (DRE) Shannon if you need any assistance locating a space to nurse or tend to your children.

Our monthly Committee on Family Ministry will meet again virtually on September 24, 2024 from 7:00pm – 8:15pm.  Please join to learn more about upcoming opportunities and to share your ideas for our RE programming.

With warmth and gratitude,

Shannon

Shannon Morrison (she/her)

What’s in the Wonder Box this week?  Elementary ages will have another fun activity and a snack planned for them by their teachers Daisy and Rachael.  Our Tweens and Teens will learn more about Unitarian Universalism this Sunday in Crossing Paths which began September 8th.  The Nursery is available for our littlest members to play and learn with Sunny and Leah.

THANK YOU!  We have been so lucky to have helping hands in RE – thank you to our volunteers Diana Marinetto, Edmund Pendleton, Rose Lovell, Katie Hamilton,  Karen Brown, and Warren Finch for all your contributions this month.

Parents – Did you know RE Staff are at the building starting at 10:15am?

Plan to arrive before service starts and your children can settle in and play before the service while their adults enjoy coffee and conversation.  After the service, children who are not picked up by 11:55 will walk with staff to be reconnected with their families.  If your family will be out of town, email Shannon dre@uucmp.org to let us know so we can plan for attendance.

? Would your child like to light the chalice?

Every Sunday we try to find a child or youth volunteer to light the chalice. It’s a fun way for kids to participate in the service. DRE Shannon can show kids how to do it before the service if it’s their first time or they need a reminder. See Shannon on Sunday morning if interested.

?  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Church members without little ones are encouraged to lend a hand so caregivers can have a chance to connect with our wonderful community.  Sign Up HERE!   We appreciate your help whether working directly with our kids or to make our UUCMP campus a safe and fun place to be!
