“Information explosion” is one way our current over-abundance of news, entertainment, and social media has been described. Thanks to technological advances, we have access to an incredible array of information sources. But rather than becoming appropriately informed about pertinent issues, we may find ourselves overwhelmed by a cacophony of competing voices. Amidst the deafening din, our political divisions seem to be growing deeper. We may hear many troubling things. And yet to gain understanding, we need to learn how to truly listen.
