The winter holiday season, leading us into the longest nights of the year, will likely evoke a diversity of feelings and associations for each of us. A multitude of secular stories and religious observances, social conventions and family traditions strike different chords for all of us. Many of them can be traced back to the human experience of miracle and magic – a sense of wonder that often eludes us, and seems more accessible to a child.
