“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness,” the Dalai Lama says. Albert Schweitzer seems to agree. He writes, “As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.” These are beautiful sentiments, for sure. And yet, in these complicated times, what can we realistically hope to accomplish with such simple, random acts?
